The Early Chamber of Commerce presented Bill King of the Lyric Theatre Board of Directors a check today for $10,000. These funds will go toward the current remodel/restoration of the Lyric Theatre in Historic Downtown Brownwood.

Bill King, LPAC Board Member stated: “We are so appreciative of the Early Chamber providing these funds for this project. An additional plus in receiving these funds is that with our current ‘matching gift’ the dollars will be doubled to $20,000.”

The Lyric Theatre has most recently been working to raise funds for a $500,000 matching gift. A local donor has presented the Lyric with a willingness to match any and all gifts up to $500,000 that are made prior to May 31st.

This contribution from the Early Chamber of Commerce will be a tremendous help in achieving this match goal. Eric Evans (Lyric Managing Director) stated: “I’m excited that the Early Chamber recognizes the impact the Lyric project will have on all of our Central Texas area. Their willingness to invest in the Lyric shows a great deal of forward, outside-of-the-box type of thinking that can really be healthy and fruitful for our economy and those that live in our communities.”

If the $500,000 matching gift can be matched by the end of May the Lyric will have raised all the funds needed to complete the renovation/restoration project. To date the Lyric has raised just over 2.2 million dollars for the renovation/restoration project.

Contributions can be made at www.BrownwoodLyricTheatre.com through the “Click and Pledge” link. This site is a safe and secure method for making a one-time donation or a larger donation that is paid on a monthly basis.
