BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 4/15

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of April 7-13, 2014 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 20 medical emergencies, 6 fire calls, 2 lift assist, 2 motor vehicle accidents and 1 hazardous materials call.

Reports of interest include:

Monday, April 7

*8:02 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 2100 block of Avenue B.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a plastic dumpster on fire.  The fire was extinguished by fire personnel.

Tuesday, April 8

*12:25 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 300 block of Commerce.  Fire crews responded to a dumpster fire behind Long John Silver’s.  The fire was extinguished by fire personnel.

*11:09 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 2000 block of 8th Street.  Firefighters arrived on scene where the homeowner advised her house was smoky due to burned food.  Firefighters set up a ventilation fan and cleared the house of smoke.

*10:00 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 400 block of Milton Avenue.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find a vehicle with steam coming from the engine.  The call was determined to be a overheated car and busted radiator, there was no fire.

*10:44 PM – BFD was called to a fire call in the 1400 block of Brady Avenue.  Firefighters were dispatched for the smell of something burning. Nothing was found upon arrival.

Wednesday, April 9

*6:00 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries on 4th Street.

Thursday, April 10

*11:59 AM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 2800 block of Southgate.  Fire crews responded to a carbon monoxide detector activating.  Firefighters explained to the resident how to change battery.

*12:06 PM – BFD responded to a fire call in the 800 block of Riverside Drive.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a few pallets and a stack of card board on fire.

Friday, April 11

*12:43 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries on 3rd Street at Avenue I.

Saturday, April 12

*10:18 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1600 block of Calvert.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a small fire.  The fire was extinguished and information was gathered.

*1:52 PM – BFD responded to a rescue call in the 1600 block of Lane Street, where they were dispatched to remove a dog from a 10′ well under a house.

Sunday, April 13

*2:52 AM – BFD was called to a fire in the 500 block of 7th Street.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a small trash fire in the alley. Firefighters extinguished the fire and attempted to make contact with the home owner.
