Brownwood prose and poetry students dominated the District 8 3A meet, Thursday, April 20th, held at Burnet High School.

BHS students earned half the regional spots by advancing three to the regional meet to be held at Texas Tech University.

Earning regional spots were: Trey Fawcett (1st place – Poetry Interpretation), Brooklyn Britton (2nd place – Prose Interpretation), and Megan Pointer (3rd place – Prose Interpretation).

Shannon Parrish also placed 5th in Prose earning an alternate position. BHS speech/theatre Coach, Larry Mathis, indicated he was exceptionally proud of the group.

“It says a lot about your kids when they earn half the spots to regionals leaving the remaining six schools in the district to share the other three regional spots,” said Mathis. “The kids have worked exceptionally hard, and it was great to see their hard work pay such dividends.”
