SharpRichard “Rick” Dale Sharp left this world for the eternal glory of Heaven on March 19, 2014 in the comfort of his home. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on March 21, at New Beginnings Church with Pastor Kelly Crenshaw officiating. Interment will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.

Rick was born on January 1, 1959, in Spur Texas as the only son of Bernard Dale and Rose Sharp. He spent his childhood in Plainview Texas , working alongside his father in the family owned service stations and attending Plainview schools. While living in the Panhandle, he was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Rochelle and Randa. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the 1st Field Artillery. He was stationed in Herzog Germany as a cannoner on a Howitzer with his unit serving as the first line defense against a Soviet invasion during the Cold War Era.

Upon his honorable discharge the family relocated to Brownwood , where he began his career with the City of Brownwood . Not long after moving here, Rick met his lifelong partner and soul mate Christina Robertson and they were married on November 28, 1981. They were blessed with the birth of two children, daughter Amanda, and son Richard Stephen. Later in life he enjoyed a career in his lifelong passion as a truck driver. Rick was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Christina Sharp; daughters, Amanda, Rochelle and Randa; his son, Richard Stephen; grandchildren Zoey, Abby, Jasmine, Mykayla, Alissa, Baylee, Colby, Blake and Torrie. He is also survived by his two sisters, Diane and Deana and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard Dale and Rose Sharp; father-in-law, Otto Robertson; grandsons, Richard Stephen Sharp Jr., Braden Emitt Cornett and Joshua Aubrey Cornett.

The family extends a special thank you to Heartland and Netherton Funeral Homes, The Heart of Texas EMS and New Beginnings Church .

Family and friends are invited and encouraged to sign the online guestbook at www.nethertonfuneralhome.com
