James D. “Hoot” Gibson

GibsonJames D. “Hoot” Gibson, age 58, of Bangs passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014.

Graveside services for James will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Cedar Point Cemetery with Pastor Stan Roberts officiating. Visitation for the family will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Blaylock Funeral Home.

James was born on December 14, 1955 to L.B. and Martha Ruth (Denton) Gibson in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Albany High School in 1974. After high school James attended and graduated from Tarleton State University in 1979 with a Bachelor and in 1985 with a Masters in Agriculture Education. James was an AG teacher for 12 years. James married his wife of 20 years, June, on July 31, 1993 in Brownwood. He retired from the Texas National Guard after 23 years as a Master Sergeant. He also farmed and ranched for 13 years.

James leaves behind his wife, June Gibson of Brownwood; sons, Matthew Gibson of Pennsylvania, David Gibson and wife Dawn of Richmond, TX, Russell Gibson of Plano, TX, Mackey Gibson of Brownwood, and Grayson Gibson of Brownwood; father, L.B. Gibson of Abilene; mother-in-law, Maryln Hanley and husband Michael of Bangs; two granddaughters, Alexandra Gibson and Lillanna Gibson; and brother, Roger Gibson of Missouri. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death his mother, Martha Ruth Gibson.

The family request in lieu of flowers donations be made to the family. Online condolences are welcomed at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
