The filing deadline passed Friday for candidates in the City of Brownwood Mayor and City Council election with only incumbents filing for a new term.

Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes filed for his second term with no challengers in this election.  Councilmen Ward 1, H.D. Jones and Ward 4, Draco Miller each filed for their seats again with no challengers.

Brownwood city officials said that with no challengers, the city will cancel the election that would have been held in May and the incumbents will start their new terms at an upcoming city council meeting.
