Newell Burl Parsons

parsonsFuneral services for Newell Burl Parsons will be Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Heartland Funeral Chapel, Early, Texas. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park Early, Texas.

Visitation will Friday February 21, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home. Mr. Parson passed away Thursday in Brownwood, Texas.

He was born January 5, 1924 in Coleman, Texas to Frank and Lou Cupps Parsons. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp. building many state parks and other construction projects. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII stationed in Italy. He was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. Newell loved to fish, sit on the porch, and take road trips. He was a lifetime resident of Brown County. On January 14, 1943 he and Edith Goodgion, were married in Brown County, Texas. She was the love of his life.

He is survived by three sons; Troy Parsons, Ricky Parsons, and Ivan Parsons all of Brownwood, his daughter-in-law Linda Parsons of Bangs. He is also survived by two sisters; Muriell Lappe of Brownwood and Dorothy Goodgion of Lake Brownwood, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, several sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Edith Parsons, his parents, one son Kenneth Parsons, one grandson Kent Parsons, one sister and five brothers.
