AgriLifeExtensionAll Brown County residents are cordially invited by The Brown County Extension Education clubs represented by the May, McDaniel and Owens communities to attend a free lunch and learn program.  This event is designed to educate the public about Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA) in Brown County.  The mission of the Extension Education Association is to work with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to strengthen and enrich families through educational programs, leadership development and community service.

The program will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Home Economics Building on the Brady Highway in the Youth Fair Complex.  Educational programs will be presented by club members who attended the State Convention in San Marcos in September, Extension faculty and District TEEA representatives.  Program topics will include:

“History of Extension Education and Extension Education Clubs in Brown County” – Learn more about the history of Extension Education, what clubs are doing in Brown County and how to start an Extension Education club in your community.

“Google – Who Can You Trust?” – The purpose of this workshop is to identify reputable sources of information, describe how to determine if a website may be accurate and identify ways a mobile device may help with health and wellness.

“Necessary Documents” – This workshop will teach you how to inform people about various documents needed in life, identify where to obtain copies or to create necessary documents and help members in personal recordkeeping and communication with family and executor

“Social Media/Social Networking” – Find out how to connect socially with email, Facebook, or other social media, share information and ideas via social media, secure communication security while keeping others informed and safe and increase visibility and market TEEA to a broader audience with a cost effective means.

“True Colors – Working Together to Be Productive” – In this workshop learn how to identify your True Color™ so you can work more productively as a group, apply what we know about each color to understand why a person tends to respond and behave in a certain manner, provide a repertoire of knowledge so that our relationships with others will be more flexible and provide for more harmonious and effective group interactions

“Leadership Styles” – Find out more about your leadership style and the leadership styles of others so that you can work together more effectively.

“4-H & Youth Development and Texas 4-H Conference Center” – Extension Education is very dedicated to the 4-H & Youth Development Program and the Texas 4-H Conference Center.  Learn more about these two entities in Brown County.

Lunch will be provided free of charge.  If you wish to attend, please RSVP to the Brown County Extension Office at 325-646-0386.  For more information, please call 325-646-5658 or 325-217-4431.
