BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 2/18

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of February 10-16, 2014 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 29 medical emergencies, 5 fire calls, 1 agency assist, 2 hazardous material calls and 4 motor vehicle accidents.

Reports of interest include:

Monday, February 10

*7:12 AM – BFD responded to a single vehicle accident in the area of Stephen F. Austin and Crockett Dr. where a vehicle struck a tree. Firefighters assisted Guardian EMS with loading of the occupant for transport to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

*12:58 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 200 block of W Commerce to investigate an odor of gas in the building.  Upon arrival, fire crews investigated the building and found no smell of gas.

Tuesday, February 11

*3:32 PM – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 500 block of Commerce involving a vehicle and a bicycle.  Fire crews arrived to find that a person riding a bicycle had run into a vehicle at a traffic light.

Wednesday, February 12

*2:01 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 1300 block of 4th Street. Firefighters responded due to a carbon monoxide detector activation.  Firefighters checked the vitals of the occupants.  Atmos crews arrived and found carbon monoxide levels to be high inside the home. Gas to the heaters was turned off.

Thursday, February 13

*12:07 AM – BFD was called to the 2300 block of Main regarding smoke in the area. Fire crews smelled trash burning but could not locate anything.

*1:36 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2900 block of Morris Sheppard where they arrived on scene to find a small grass fire that was quickly controlled.

Friday, February 14

*11:42 AM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries in the 1200 block of Main.

Saturday, February 15

*5:07 PM – BFD was called to an agency assist in the 3000 block of Hemphill where they arrived on scene to provide water for horses.

Sunday, February 16

*4:40 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1700 block of 17th Street regarding a report of a fire in a dumpster.  Upon arrival, nothing was found.

*4:48 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 3600 block of US 377 South.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find an 18-wheeler on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished.

*7:02 PM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries in the area of Austin and Main.

*9:10 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the area of Ft Worth and Maple Streets where they arrived on scene to find an occupant of a residence burning in a pit.  The subject was advised that there was a burn ban was in effect and that no burning is allowed after dark.
