There are times in the life of a person who makes their living creatively, where the juices dry up and nothing comes to mind to be creative about.

Whether they are sculptors, musicians, writers, etc., there is that moment when one is faced with having to manufacture something out of thin air on command, because one is supposed to be creative.

Some call it stage fright, others cite the lack of a muse, and there’s always the dreaded “writers block”. Whatever name it is given, it stymies the creative process, and puts a huge constraint on the talent of the individual in question.

Some people get up and go for a walk to jog their minds. Some times it’s all that is needed to snap out of whatever rut they find themselves in. Vacations are supposed to be for recharging one’s soul and are known to renew creative vigor in the mind of those in need of freshening.

Sometimes, however, there is nothing that can be done except sit and stare at a computer monitor and know that the word processor, or music software, or whatever digital tool that is supposed to bolster creativity has decided at that point in time that it hates you and hopes that you never have another creative thought in your life.

Short of picking up said electronic heckler and pitching it out the nearest window, what can you do when that moment comes for you?  The simplest answer is to start creating. Once you have gotten so far into the creative process that you forgot WHY you started your current project, however mundane it might seem, you will realize that you’re no longer stuck.

You are, in fact, creative enough to get around that stumbling block, or hurdle, or creative void that you found yourself in moments ago.
