During the last 2 weeks of October, students from East Elementary sold over $26,000 worth of food items for the PTO fall fundraiser.

“Our goal was $25,000, so we were delighted to exceed our goal,” said East Elementary Principal, Nanda Wilbourn.

Students who sold over 20 items were rewarded with a ride in a limousine to McDonald’s where they enjoyed a happy meal and fun with friends on December 18th.

The top fundraisers were Emma Stegemoller, selling 40 items and Joshua Mudery, selling 52 items. During a follow-up event held at East Elementary, both students were able to spend 30 seconds in the money booth, keeping all the money they were able to grab.

“Joshua, as top seller, was wrapped in duct-tape and got to ‘roll in the dough’ keeping all the money that stuck to him,” explained Wilbourn.  “We thank all of our students who participated and made our fundraiser such a huge success.”

Money that was raised will be used to purchase additional Promethean Boards for the classrooms.  The boards are an interactive projecting system that allows students and teachers to write, draw, and interact with the software displayed through a projector.

Currently, promethean boards are utilized in select classrooms on five Brownwood ISD campuses including, East Elementary, Woodland Heights Elementary, Northwest Elementary, Brownwood Intermediate School, and Brownwood Middle School.  With only four classrooms at East Elementary currently having the high-tech teaching tool, thanks to the PTO and fundraiser, Wilbourn now has plans to order between 5 and 10 more (depending on costs) that will be installed in classrooms in the coming weeks.
