Brown County Water Improvement District recently purchased a new patrol boat for their Lake Patrol officers, which was unveiled Tuesday afternoon at the district’s board meeting.

The boat, pictured above, is a Crestliner 2200 bay boat which was purchased through Hook and Anchor at Lake Brownwood for $35,000.  The boat has a 150 horsepower 4 stroke motor and is 22 feet in length.  The rigging, according to Lake Patrol Chief Troy Henderson, was completed by Hook and Anchor.

Henderson brought the boat to Tuesday afternoon’s meeting of the board and stated that he and his officers are very excited about the new addition to their fleet.

“I’m very excited about the purchase of the boat,” said Henderson.  “It’s a lot safer.  There are still some boats that can out run us, but not many (in this boat).”  He explained that many of the patrol’s chases involve jet skis which are the faster vehicles on Lake Brownwood and that this boat will be able to keep up with them better when necessary.

The cost of the boat was an addition to the usual budget items for the district, but was included in the 2013/2014 Fiscal Year Budget that was approved at the board’s August 13th meeting.
