Forage Seminar to be Held January 29th

AgriLifeExtensionA special 5-hour CEU Forage Seminar is set for January 28th at the First Baptist Church in Cross Plains. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The program begins at 9:00 a.m.  The goal of this program is to provide producers with information on forage management strategies to help them produce uniform, high quality forage to meet their production goals.

Speakers for the Seminar will include: Gerald Hobson, Dupont; Robert Frost, FSA County Executive Director; Sammy Wilson, NRCS District Conservationist; Dr. Rob Harle, DVM/Rancher; Dr. Charles Allen, Entomologist Specialist; Bill Thompson, Extension Economist; Dr. David Drake, Agronomy Specialist; and Paul Weiser, Texas Department of Agriculture.

Gerald Hobson will discuss “Weed Control Options on Native and Improved Pastures”; Robert Frost and Sammy Wilson will discuss “FSA & NRCS Program updates”; Dr. Rob Harle will discuss “Let the cows bale your hay”; Dr. Drake will discuss” Wheat variety trials”; Bill Thompson will discuss “Economics of Graze out vs. Grain”, Dr. Charles Allen will discuss “Insect Control on Coastal and Native Pastures”, and Paul Weiser with the Texas Department of Agriculture will be on hand to give an hour of Laws and Regulation for pesticide applicators.

The cost of the Seminar and accompanying meal is $20 to those that pre-register by January 21st, after January 21st there will be a $25.00 fee to be paid at the door. This program is presented by the AgriLife Extension offices in Brown, Callahan, Coleman, and Eastland Counties.
