Wayland went peacefully to his Heavenly Father with his lovely wife, Julia, step-children, and grandchildren by his side on December 18th, 2013 at the young age of 74, he. He was born on January 1st, 1939 at his parent’s home at 503 Fifth Street in Brownwood, Texas.

Wayland was a lifelong Christian and a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.  He was a graduate of Brownwood High School.  He attended Howard Payne after graduation and later Tarleton State.  Wayland worked on and off shore as a directional drilling consulting supervisor in most parts of the United States and many foreign countries.

On October 11th, 1997 at the Coggin Baptist Church, Wayland and Julia were joined in holy matrimony during a beautiful wedding ceremony.

Wayland is survived by his wife, Julia; step-children, Jack Stanke Jr. (wife Tammy) of Brownwood, Britt Stanke (wife Marilyn) of Brownwood, Jennifer Bannowsky (husband Fred) of Baird; seven grandchildren, Johnathon, Heather, Kristen, Shaily, Elias, Isaiah, and Luke; one step-grandchild, Skylar Stanke; sister-in-law, Lorilei Anderson; sister, Glenda R. Roberts; brother, Gary T. Yancy (wife Monica) and sister, Patricia Horn (husband Jimmie).  He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives, friends and classmates.

Wayland is preceded by his parents, Elgene Lewis Yancy and Ruth Ellen Andrews Yancy; and older brothers, Bobby Anderson and Gene Anderson.

Visiation will be Saturday, December 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22nd 1815 Coggin Avenue in Brownwood, Texas, with Tim Skaggs officiating. Interment will follow at Staley Cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome to leave online condolences at www.blaylockfuneralhome.com. The family request in lieu of flowers contributions be made to help with medical bills.  Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
