Cecil Albert Bostick

Funeral services for Cecil Albert Bostick will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 22, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early, Texas, with the Rev. Ruben Packer officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas.

Cecil was born June 26, 1926, in Lingleville, Texas, in Erath County. He passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, in Brownwood, Texas. Cecil was the oldest of four children born to A. R. and Margaret Bostick. He graduated from Lake Arthur High School in Lake Arthur, N. M., where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Cummins. Cecil and Dorothy were married on July 21, 1946, in Lake Arthur. They were married 67 years. She preceded him in death by 25 days.

Cecil and Dorothy made their home in Carlsbad, N. M., While in Carlsbad, Cecil worked for Potash Company of America and served on the Carlsbad City Council. In 1969, Cecil moved his family to Brownwood to take a job as plant manager of White’s Mines. He worked there until the company was bought out by Vulcan at which point he and Dorothy moved to San Antonio in 1988. While there he worked as supervisor of Vulcan’s trucking division. He retired from the company in 1993.

Cecil was a devoted husband and father. He was a quiet and gentle man who always made himself available to anyone who needed his wisdom and encouragement. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and watching 6-man football, Spurs basketball and the Dallas Cowboys.

Cecil is survived by two children, Larry Bostick and wife Angelia of Brownwood, Texas; daughter, Patricia Russell of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Alayna Reyes and husband Justin of Yukon, Okla., and Caleb Bostick of Brownwood, Texas; one great-grandchild, Hayden Reyes; one brother, Mack Bostick and wife Nami of California. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bostick, parents A. R. and Margaret Bostick; brother, Rex Bostick; and sister, Patsy Ann Bostick.

Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of arrangements.
