Treats for Santa Bake-off Announced for Christmas Under the Stars Festival

ChristmasUnderTheStarsLogo2013The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host their annual “Treats for Santa Bake-off” competition at the upcoming 5th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival.

Santa likes his treats, and area bakers can enter the contest to show off their skills in several categories including pies, cakes, bars/brownies, cookies, bread/rolls, and muffins.

The contest will take place on the second day of the festival, Saturday, December 7th in the Bertrand Technology Solutions meeting room at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce offices.  Baked goods will only be accepted on Saturday, December 7th from 3-4 PM and judging will begin at 4:30 PM.

Scoring for each treat will be based on taste, appearance, and originality.

After judging, the entries will be moved to the Depot Civic and Cultural Center near Santa and Mrs. Claus for display and to sell samples to the public.

Cost is to enter the competition is $10 per entry and cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.  Entry forms are available at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce or online at BrownwoodChamber.org.

The 5th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival will feature holiday games, crafts, food and attractions for kids of all ages.  The event will take place on Friday, December 6th and Saturday, December 7th from 4-8 PM at the Depot Complex, Adams Street Community Center, and the Lehnis Railroad Museum.  Key attractions will include Mr. and Mrs. Claus, ice skating, rock climbing wall, and several holiday themed contests.
