Greenleaf Cemetery Association is a member of the Wreaths Across America program honoring veterans by laying wreaths during the holidays.  In 2012, approximately 400,000 wreaths were placed nationwide, by over 150,000 volunteers, in 750 participating cemeteries.

A local ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14th, at the east entrance of Greenleaf Cemetery.   This year’s ceremony will feature the Heart of Texas Honor Guard, David Barnum, S. Sgt. Les Beasley (USMC, Ret.) and local Boy Scout troops. Ceremonial wreaths will be placed on the east gate to honor all soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who served.

Following the ceremony, family members of veterans, along with volunteers, will place wreaths on the graves of service members, whose relatives ordered wreaths.

The public is invited to help honor the veterans buried at Greenleaf by purchasing a wreath for a certain veteran or donating a wreath to be placed.  Wreath orders are due by December 2nd and may be ordered through the office at Greenleaf Cemetery or by visiting their website www.greenleafcemetery.com.   Wreaths are available for $15 each.

Wreaths can be purchased for other area cemeteries; however, those ordering will need to pick up the wreath.

The Greenleaf Cemetery Board along with Friends of Greenleaf volunteers are assisting with the local Wreaths Across America ceremony.

For more information, please contact the Greenleaf Cemetery Office at 325-646-6919.
