Sandra Rae Broughton Howze

HowzeSandraGraveside services for Sandra Rae Broughton Howze, age 71, of Brownwood, Texas formerly of Santa Anna, Texas will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early.  The family will receive friends 6 – 8 PM Friday at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early.    Mrs. Howze passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in a local nursing home.

Mrs. Howze was born on August 25, 1942 in Brownwood, Texas to Samuel Raymond and Ruth Hightower Broughton, Sr.  She was a 1962 graduate of Brownwood High and was married to John Ellis Howze, Sr. on June 15, 1963 in Brownwood.   She attended the Methodist Church in her youth and later became a member of the Pentecostal Church of God.  Mrs. Howze was a homemaker, loved to cook and enjoyed sewing, especially for her daughters.

Survivors include her husband John Howze Sr. of Santa Anna; three daughters Raelene Shaw of Early, Melinda Cannon and husband Hank of Brownwood and Laura Howze of Naperville, Illinois; one son John Howze Jr. of Santa Anna; grandchildren Rebekah Shaw, Mark Shaw, Rachel Cannon, Caleb Cannon, Daniel Branin and a great grandchild on the way.  One brother Raymond Broughton and wife Dorothy of Zephyr; one sister Glenda Peikert and husband Tommy of Proctor.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a son-in-law Leo Vick Shaw.
