HPU’s Lady Jackets Win Big In Season Opener, Gattis Ties ASC Record

Britani Gattis ties a conference record for three-point shots in a game leading the Lady Jackets to a 96-54 victory over Sul Ross State University Tuesday evening at the Gallego Center in Alpine, Texas.

Britani Gattis poured in a game high 32 points on 11 of 18 shooting from the field. She was 10 of 14 from behind the arc tying the American Southwest Conference record for three pointers in a game.


The Lady Jackets jumped on the Lady Lobos early and never looked back holding a 45-24 halftime advantage. Howard Payne shot 41% from the field in the opening half while holding Sul Ross State to just 24% shooting.

It was all HPU in the second half as the Lady Jackets built their lead to as much as 51, 90-39 with five minutes remaining in the game. Howard Payne would then cruise to the 96-54 victory. 

Along with Gattis’ game and career high 32 points, she added 12 rebounds and five assists. Danyel Bradley followed with 26 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Sarah Van Remmen had 11 points and Jessica Galaviz added 12 rebounds off the bench.

Sul Ross was led by Asrelle Anderson with 15 points and Amanda Garza with a team high eight rebounds. Sul Ross falls to 0-2 on the season.

Howard Payne will play next at home versus the University of Texas at Dallas on Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00 pm.
