The $3.7 Blanket ISD Bond Proposition to construct new facilities and demolish an old school building failed Tuesday night.

The vote was an overwhelming 80.72% against the bond proposition with 59 votes in favor of the bond and 247 against.

Had the bond passed, the Blanket ISD planned to design and construct a science lab and classroom, a distance learning center, a 592 seat competition gymnasium with locker rooms and restrooms, concessions for the rodeo, tennis and agricultural facilities and demolish an old school building.

The Blanket ISD tax rate would have increased 0.3012 per $100 valuation from the current $1.0772 to $1.3784.  This rate increase would have meant an increase of taxes of $151 per year for a home valued at $50,000.
