9:15 PM Update – Early Police Chief David Mercer said in a statement Monday night that law enforcement received 911 calls reporting a shooting with one individual shot.

Officers located a 45-year-old male identified as Nelson Thomas lying on the front porch of the home with a gunshot wound to the stomach.  Nelson Thomas was airlifted from the scene to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.

Nelson Thomas’s wife Micah Thomas was transported from the scene to Brownwood Regional Medical center for anxiety and assault wounds.

Details are still being gathered but the incident appears to have been a domestic disturbance that ended in the shooting.

No charges have been filed on anyone and no one has been taken into custody at this time. The investigation is continuing.

Original Story: Area law enforcement officers are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday evening at a residence in the 200 block of Crescent Drive in Early.

An unidentified male was shot in the abdomen and was airlifted by Native Air to a hospital for treatment.

The incident took place around 5:25 PM Monday at the residence.

Authorities state that the shooter was “someone he knew,” but offered no further details Monday evening.  The Early Police Department is continuing their investigation and no arrest has been made.

Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Early Volunteer Fire Department and Guardian EMS also responded to the scene.
