In support of fellow contestant and second place winner 21-year-old Cecilio Chavarria of the Brownwood Reunion Celebration Hands on a House contest, many Hands On a House contestants are hosting a benefit to help him pay for his wife Daniela’s citizenship papers.  The Hands on a House competition was held during the Brownwood Reunion Celebration September 20-22.

The goal of the fundraiser is to help the Chavarrias pay off $4000 of legal work to gain Daniela’s U.S. citizenship.  The couple was married this past Valentine’s Day.  Cecilio (pictured above during the event finale) had hoped to win the house in order to sell it to his friend and use the proceeds to pay off the debt.  Unfortunately, he placed 2nd.  His new friends participating in Hands On a House wanted to help make a difference and came up with the two fundraisers.

According to organizers, there will be a brisket lunch and bake sale on Friday, October 4th and Saturday, October 5th at the Abundant Life Church from 11:00 a.m. both days until they are sold out.  The lunch will consist of two choices:  Brisket plate for $7, which includes brisket, potato salad and beans or a Brisket Sandwich for $3.

Meals are available for pick-up or by delivery, contact Stephen Miller at 325-232-9887 to place large orders or delivery.

Also on Saturday, there will be a car wash to benefit the Chavarrias in the TexasBank parking lot (by Wal-mart). The time of the car wash it to be announced soon.

Both of these fundraisers have been put together by fellow Hands On a House contestants.  Any additional funds raised past the $4000 goal will be donated to another contestant’s organization, Hope Home Ministries at First Baptist Church of Brownwood.  Brandi Wright volunteers with the organization and had competed in hopes of winning the house to benefit Hope Home Ministries.

Hope Home Ministries was founded in Brownwood in 2008 and strives to provide a safe home for girls who are trapped in the cycle of poverty, abuse and addiction. They desire to help young women break free from the bondage that holds them back in their lives and to equip them to become mature, responsible adults.  The organization accomplishes this by sharing the truth of Christ’s love in a safe home environment while teaching life-skills and encouraging positive decision making.
