MayRodeoAssociationLogoThe May Rodeo Association will host their annual “Bulls & Brisket” fundraising event this weekend, September 27th & 28th, 2013 at the May arena in May, TX.  The event will be held in conjunction with the May High School festivities on Homecoming Weekend.

The weekend’s activities begin with a cook-off.  Cookers will begin arriving as early as 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

The featured event is the bull riding competition which will take place Saturday at 6:30 p.m.  There is no entry fee and the first 30 bull riders signed up by 4 p.m. Saturday will be accepted into the competition.

Bull riders entered in the event have a chance to win the following:

•1st place: $1000 and a championship buckle, plus the option to ride the “Bounty Bull” for an additional $1000 in added prize money (total winnings possible $2000).
•2nd place: $500
•3rd place: $250

Bulls for the event are provided by Dent Hub Hail Repair and J.H. Bucking Bulls of Eastland.

Contact Toby Lindley at 325-642-2347 or Josh Beal at 325-647-7763 for information about the bull riding competition.

The weekend will culminate with a dance featuring The Josh Ward Band on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. at the May Rodeo Barn.  Tickets will be available at the door.

The funds raised will be used for improvements of the May Rodeo facilities.  According to organizers, a small group of members make all the improvements themselves to save costs and have great support from local and area businesses and individuals.  So far the old arena has been torn down and replaced with a new arena.  The association looks forward to making more improvements to provide quality family events for the May community and surrounding area.

“We invite everyone to come out to May on September, 27th & 28th May High School Homecoming weekend.  Whether you’re an ex-student or just looking to have a fun, relaxing weekend, we welcome you to join us,” encourage organizers.
