BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 9/24

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of September 16-22, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 24 medical emergencies, 2 fire calls, 2 motor vehicle accidents, and 3 hazardous materials calls.

Reports of interest include the following:

Monday, September 16

*1:36 PM – BFD was called to a hazardous materials call in the 600 block of W. Commerce.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find a truck leaking from the rear fuel tank.  Firefighters used absorbent to contain the spill.

Tuesday, September 17

*10:31 AM – BFD was dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the area of Austin Avenue and Center.  Fire fighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.

Wednesday, September 18

*1:44 PM – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler in the area of County Road 348 and East US Hwy 377. Fire crews arrived on scene with Guardian EMS.

Thursday, September 19

*6:55 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 1300 block of Avenue I regarding the strong smell of gas in the residence.  After an investigation, it was determined the pilot light for the water heater was out.

*9:49 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 300 block of Spillway Road.  Firefighters arrived on scene with Lake Brownwood Dam Volunteer Fire Department. The incident was determined to be a recreational vehicle (RV) fire. The fire was extinguished and overhaul began.

Friday, September 20

*7:00 AM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous materials call in the 1200 block of Irma. The occupant of the residence called due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning and subsequently Guardian EMS was also notified. The house was checked with a gas meter.

*5:31 PM – BFD was called to an agency assist in the area of Indian Creek and Stephen F. Austin.  Fire crews assisted Brownwood Police Department with traffic control.

Saturday, September 21

*10:36 AM – BFD was dispatched to a 2-vehicle accident in the 500 block of Main Street.  Firefighters checked for injuries and provided first aid.

*5:48 PM – BFD was called to a fire at a residence on Brentwood Circle.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find the resident cooking on a barbeque pit, there was no fire.
