The American Southwest Conference recently announced its football players of the week for week two and Howard Payne freshman Richard Young was honored as the Offensive Player of the Week for his performance versus Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

Offensive Player Of The Week QB Richard Young threw for five touchdowns, including two in the pivotal third quarter and another in the fourth, to engineer the Howard Payne 41-27 comeback win at Southwest Assemblies of God.

Young threw scoring strikes of five and 67 yards to Colby Mica in the third quarter and found Sayvon Young-Cormier for a 38-yard TD pass early in the fourth quarter. Young completed 24 of 36 passes for 314 yards as HPU totaled 546 yards of offense against the Lions. Through two games, Young has thrown for nine touchdowns with no interceptions.
