Texas Attorney General and gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott made a stop in Brownwood for his Main Street Texas Tour at Lemon’s Bar-B-Q Thursday afternoon with a large crowd of supporters in attendance.

Abbott said that he has fought for Texans’ rights in his current office and he looks to continue to work to defend rights and freedoms if elected as Governor in 2014.

Abbott discussed how he plans to address issues facing Texans within the confines of a budget.

“I will focus on preparing Texas for the challenges it will face in the next decade,” he said. “We are seeing looming challenges arising that simply must be addressed, challenges like water, roads and education.”

Some items on his platform include ending Obamacare in Texas, protecting the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms, defending traditional values by elevating morality in society, defending the 10th amendment regarding the powers delegated to the states, voter ID, and border security.

“America is great not because of the government, instead America is great because of freedom,” Abbott said.  “Americans have always remembered that freedom is worth fighting for, and that fight is what we need now more than ever. Because freedom is being threatened now more than ever.”

Abbott also made appearances Thursday at Stango’s Coffee Shop in San Angelo and Perini Ranch Steakhouse in the Abilene area in his Main Street Texas Tour.
