Emergency responders were called to a one-vehicle accident on Hwy 377 just north of Early, where a truck came to a stop in a creek bed heavily damaged; however its driver suffered only minor injuries.

Approximately 10:40 a.m., the female driver of the Ford F-150 pickup was traveling south from Granbury on her way home to Cloudcroft, New Mexico when her vehicle began to hydroplane.  The driver stated that she was in the left hand lane of Hwy 377, about a mile north of the Early High School campus, when she realized she was hydroplaning and headed toward oncoming traffic. The driver then tried to get into the right hand lane and lost control of the vehicle.  The vehicle left the roadway, just missing the guardrail, sideswiped a tree and landed upright in the creek bed.

The driver had minor scrapes and bruising; however, her pickup had heavy damage which included the back seat passenger area of the passenger side of the vehicle being ripped open, pulling the side of the bed off of the truck.

She was evaluated by Guardian EMS at the scene and did not require transport.

Early Police Department, Early Volunteer Fire Department, and Guardian EMS responded to the scene of the accident.

Pictured above and below is the damaged pickup in the creek bed.
