Kroger Co-Managers Jason McLaughlin and Margaret Gressett, dropped off several cases of school supplies at the Brownwood ISD central office On Wednesday, August 22nd.  The supplies were the result of Kroger’s “Stuff the Bus” campaign held July 31st to August 18th.

“Kroger customers were able to donate a packaged EPI school kit for $7 or simply donate cash at the register via scan cards to help the local students,” said Gressett in a statement explaining the program.  “The money collected was then converted to purchase additional supplies.”

Brownwood Intermediate School Principal, Charles Chesser, and Brownwood ISD Superintendent, Dr. Reece Blincoe, welcomed the donation and expressed their appreciation on behalf of the district, while McLaughlin explained the details and the increasing success of the program that raised around $2800 this year.

“Stuff the Bus helps to fill the gap and alleviate the burden placed on teachers to provide adequate supplies at their own expense. This is our company’s chance to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged students and to help them maximize their learning potential,” explained McLaughlin, also expressing her gratitude to the cashiers that promote the program as well as the customers who donate. “A special thanks to all of our Kroger customers for making our Stuff the Bus campaign a success.”
