hands on a house

Construction began on the playhouse that will be used in this year’s Hands on a House competition scheduled to take place during this year’s Brownwood Reunion Celebration.

Contractor Johnny Cantwell and crew began construction on the house Friday afternoon on the corner of Carnegie and Adams Street where the contest will take place on the first night of Reunion on September 20th (pictured at top).

During the competition, participants compete for a custom built playhouse by keeping their hand in contact with the house for the duration of the Reunion.  Contestants will be provided with limited breaks during the competition.  The last person with their hand in contact with the house is declared the winner and wins the playhouse.

This year’s house will be modeled after a cabin, similar to the playhouse from 2012.

Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell and Associates is heading up the competition again this year.  The playhouse is expected to be complete next week and applications to participate in the contest will also be available at that time.

This year’s Brownwood Reunion Celebration will be held September 20, 21, and 22.  The community-wide festival features a variety of contests, events, attractions, music, and food in addition to the main concerts.

Watch for more info about this year’s event in the coming weeks at CelebrateBrownwood.com or “like” the Brownwood Reunion Celebration Facebook page.
