Bessie Mae “Bunk” Ellis, 90, a lifelong resident of Brownwood, Texas went home to be with our Lord on Monday, August 12, 2013.   Bessie Mae was a resident of Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home at the time of her passing.

Bessie Mae was born on July 1, 1923, in Brownwood, Texas to John and Lillian Preas.  Bessie Mae married Jimmie E. Ellis, of Brownwood, in 1936 and raised their family of four children in Brownwood.  She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.  Bessie Mae was an active member of the Brownwood Red Hatters Society.

Bessie Mae was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Ellis, daughter Glenda Ellis Hallum and her parents.  Bessie Mae is survived by her sons, James Ellis and wife Marjorie Piper Ellis of Kerrville, Joe Ellis and wife Betty Babbitt Ellis of Arlington, and Tommie Ellis of Brownwood, her sister Mildred Graves of Brownwood and a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bessie Mae loved reading, dancing and traveling.  She loved spending time with her family.  She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.  Our faith tells us this is not a goodbye so instead we will say … until we meet again.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.  Matthew 5:4 (NIV)
