BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 8/7

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of July 29 to August 4, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 37 medical emergencies, 6 fire calls, 2 motor vehicle accidents, and 3 hazardous materials calls.

Monday, July 29

*11:13 AM – Haz-Mat call in the 1100 block of 2nd St. Arrived on scene to investigate possible gas leak. Gas detector was used to inspect home. All readings were normal.

*3:35 PM – Fire Call at 2nd St / Ave K with a vehicle fire.  Arrived on scene to find visible flames underneath vehicle and all occupants out of the vehicle.  Bumper line was used to extinguish fire.

Tuesday, July 30

*6:44 PM – Motor Vehicle Accident at Sherman / Brooks involving a single vehicle.  Provided first aid.

*9:00 PM – Fire Call at Bluffview/San Benito Dr.  Responded to call of a transformer arcing. Upon arrival found a downed power line.  Oncor was notified.

*9:04 PM – Motor vehicle accident at High Mesa/Old Coleman involving Truck vs utility pole. Oncor on scene

Wednesday, July 31

*9:18 PM – Haz-Mat call at 2nd St where a vehicle struck gas meter.  Gas was shut off and Atmos arrived on scene.

Thursday, August 1

*3:09 PM – Fire Call 4500 S 377 (3M Company). Arrived on scene to find fire in press. Fire was confined to the unit. Fire personnel extinguished fire and all spreading of fire was stopped.

Saturday, August 3

*2:48 PM – Fire call at 504 W Commerce.  General Fire Alarm.  Arrived to find alarm had been set off accidentally during remodeling.

*9:48 PM – Fire Call at 1500 Davis Lane.  Arrived on scene to find manual pull station had been activated.  Building was check with nothing found. Alarm was reset.

Sunday, August 4

*8:18 AM – Fire Call at 511 W. Commerce.  Incident was determined to be a unintentional sprinkler activation with no fire. System was reset.

*6:03 PM – Fire Call 1316 Coggin Ave. for washing machine smoking.  Arrived on scene to find nothing showing. Washing machine was located and everything appeared to be good. Customer overfilled machine causing belt to burn up on machine.

*10:34 PM – Haz-Mat at 515 E Commerce. Dispatched to investigate strong smell of gas.  Atmos was called to scene. Fire Marshal was contacted to investigate scene.
