Rough Start for Local Teams in TTAB State Tournaments

Texas Teenage Baseball Association state tournaments continue in Brown County with local teams down but not out after the first day of play.

In Brownwood, The TTAB 8U Machine Pitch state tournament had a pair of losses for the host teams.  The Brownwood Giants lost to the Rusk Rangers 16-8 in the first round of play dropping the Giants to the losers’ bracket.  The Brownwood Cardinals also had a rough start losing their first game Monday night 17-9 to the Whitney Wildcats also taking them to the losers’ bracket.

The Brownwood Giants will face the Edgewood Dawgs Tuesday at 6 PM while the Brownwood Cardinals will play the Alba Golden Panthers at 6 PM at the Bert V. Massey II Sports Complex.

In other games – Rogers Eagles 4, Pleasant Grove Cardinals 3; Edgewood Dirt Dawgs 16, Mexia Texans 19; Blooming Grove Lions 10, Temple Aces 1; Hillsboro Bad News Bears 14, Harker Heights Hot Rods 2; and Comanche Rangers 15, Alba Golden Panthers 7.

In the Early hosted TTAB 8U Player Pitch state tournament, the Early Red Sox were defeated by the Malakoff Orioles 8-3 in the second round Monday night after a first round bye for Early.

The Early Red Sox will now face Eustace Mullins at 6 PM Tuesday in the losers’ bracket.

In other games – Cameron Astros 18, Eustace Mullins 2; Copperas Cove Rangers 5, Malakoff Orioles 9; and Bosqueville Warriors 1, Cameron Astros 9.
