A red Chevy Cobalt parked on the roadside of Early Boulevard drew the attention of a deputy mid-morning on Friday, leading to multiple arrests on drug charges and a stolen car.

According to Brown County Sheriff’s Captain Tony Aaron, the driver of the car looked lost and was acting strange, so the deputy ran the license plate of the vehicle.  Dispatch informed the deputy that the vehicle was listed as stolen from North Richland Hills.  The deputy then followed the vehicle as it turned onto Sunnydale, near the post office, Aaron said.

When the deputy confronted the driver about the vehicle being listed as stolen, the driver claimed that the vehicle was “loaned” to him.  Upon searching the vehicle, over 20 grams of methamphetamine was located, Aaron said.  The driver, identified as 26-year-old Billy Gene Christensen III of Brownwood, was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle as well as manufacture delivery of a controlled substance penalty group equal or greater than 4 grams less than 200 grams and is being held at the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $30,000.

Passengers identified as 38-year-old Marjorie Elaine Schneider and 32-year-old James Bryan Schlegelmilch, both of Brownwood, were also arrested.  Schneider and Schlegelmilch were each charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.  Schneider is being held on $5,000 bond.  Schlegelmilch is held in lieu of $7,500 bond.
