Brownwood And Bangs Advance To Championship Bracket In 7-on-7 Football

football Brownwood LionsThe 1st day of the Division II State 7-on-7 Tournament is in the books, and 2 teams from the Big Country qualified for the Championship Bracket.

The Brownwood Lions and Bangs Dragons are still alive for the Division II state championship after going a combined 5-1 in pool play.

Brownwood rolled to a perfect 3-0 record on Thursday in Leander. The Lions averaged 36 points a game in victories over Anna, Mexia, and Houston Episcopal. They will face Lorena in the 1st round of the Championship round on Friday.

Bangs started slowly with a loss to pool winner College Station in the 1st game. The Dragons rebounded in the next 2 games to post victories. They beat Crandall by 2 points and Yoakum by 8 points to earn a place in the Championship round. Bangs plays Dallas Episcopal Friday morning at 9 AM.

The Wylie Bulldogs, Eastland Mavericks, and Coleman Bluecats struggled in pool play on Thursday. Wylie and Eastland were winless, and Coleman was 1-2. All 3 will play in the Consolation Bracket starting tomorrow morning at 8 AM.
