comptrollerlogo2The Texas Comptroller’s office released July sales tax allocation numbers for cities across the state showing an increase for sale tax in Brownwood and Early.

Brownwood sales tax allocations were up more than 6% in both Brownwood and Early for the month compared to July of last year. Year-to-date both cities show some slightly positive gains so far.

Statewide, State Comptroller Susan Combs will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts their July local sales tax allocations totaling $578.3 million, up 8.1 percent compared to July 2012.

“Growth in sales tax receipts was led by business sectors such as manufacturing and construction,” Combs said. “Remittances from the oil and natural gas industry remain strong, while sales tax revenue was also notable for restaurants – a consumer sector.”

See sales tax numbers for Brown County cities below.  The sales tax figures represent sales made in the month of May.
