Brownwood ISD released the following statement related to the arrest of a former Brownwood Middle School Coach Tuesday afternoon:

Brownwood ISD received news on Tuesday, July 9th, that former Brownwood Middle School coach, Landon Chace Westerman, was booked into Brown County Jail on an indecency w/child sexual contact charge.

No incidents were reported to BISD administration throughout Westerman’s one-year employment at Brownwood ISD, and his resignation was unrelated to any charges.

News of his arrest is a shock to the district, and Brownwood ISD administration is cooperating fully with law enforcement officials.  Brownwood ISD has no additional knowledge or information relating to the charges, as it is suspected that the incident may have occurred following his resignation.

“We have not yet been given any details regarding the case,” said Dr. Reece Blincoe, Brownwood ISD Superintendent.  “We take these matters very seriously, and we are expecting that any additional information will be reported to us as necessary.”
