Amado “Amos” Vasquez

vasquez Brownwood ObitAmado Z. Vasquez (Amos), age 70, of San Saba, Texas, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013 at his residence in San Saba.

Funeral services and visitation will be held Friday, July 5, 2013 at Blaylock Funeral Chapel of San Saba, visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and funeral service at 10:30 a.m., with Jessie Sanchez officiating. Interment will follow at High Valley Cemetery in Bend, Texas.

He was born on June 24, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to Manuel Vasquez and Manuela Zuniga Vasquez. As a young man, Amos married Flora Trevino and moved to San Saba in 1962, where he worked as a farmer and rancher; he ended working with Richard Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Flora Vasquez of San Saba; daughters, Norma V. Zapata of Kemper, Flora V. Guevara and husband Michael of Stephenville, and Amanda Vasquez of Magnolia; sons, Amado Vasquez Jr. and wife Maria of San Saba, and Macario Vasquez and wife Dena of San Saba; sisters, Connie Gonzales, Carmen Vasquez, Jessica Trejo, Ester Brown, Melinda Robledo; brothers, Jessie Sanchez, Raymond Sanchez, M. Vasquez, and J. Vasquez; grandsons, Joseph Guevara, Macario Vasquez, Jr.; great-grandson Amado M. Guevara; granddaughters, Courtney Smith, Mattea Crawford, Meranda Crawford, Danessa Vasquez, Samantha Guevara, Saveria Vasquez, and Amore Zapata.

Amos is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Manuela Vasquez; granddaughter Malena Vasquez; sisters, Juanita Lopez, Josephine V. Paredez, Maria V. Hernandez, and Micaela Garcia.
