James Lynn Whittington

James Lynn Whittington, age 58, of Brownwood and formerly of Glen Cove, died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his residence. Graveside funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 at the Glen Cove Cemetery pavilion with Rev. Zach Ailshie officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

James Lynn Whittington was born October 19, 1954 in Coleman, Texas, a son of L. P. and Lucy Jones Whittington. He grew up in Coleman County and moved to Brownwood in 1980. He enjoyed living in his group home and participated in many community activities.

Survivors include two sisters, Nelda Copley of Glen Cove and Mary Anderson and husband Raymond of Ballinger; nieces, Stephanie Moore and husband Doug of Glen Cove, Joy McDaniel and husband Lee of Ballinger; nephews, Keith Copley of Talpa and Robert Copley of Splendora; an aunt, Ruth Loge of Milsap; special friend, Greg Townley of Brownwood; several great-nieces and great-nephews; several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joe Stinson, and a brother-in-law, Claud Copley.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 24 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas 76834.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Southpark Activity Fund, P. O. Box 1388, Brownwood, Texas 76804.
