lowLakeMonday night rains across the county resulted in very little gain for the Lake Brownwood water level according to Brown County Water Improvement District General Manager Dennis Spinks.

“We didn’t catch anything to speak of,” said Spinks.  “What it amounted to was a 0.005 of a foot.”

This amount translates to 6/10 of an inch, not enough rainfall to result in runoff water making it into the lake.

Spinks stated that the western part of Brown County got a good amount of rain, as did northeastern Coleman County which received 1.5 inches of rain.  In the city limits of Brownwood, rainfall came in at amounts up to 1 inch according to Spinks.

A chance of rain is still in the forecast for today and tomorrow said Spinks.  “If it’ll come, we’ll get a little in the lake.  It will rain again one of these days,” said Spinks.

Currently Lake Brownwood is at a level of 1412.74 msl (mean sea level), which is an approximately 2 year supply of water for BCWID customers.

District officials will consider implementing Stage 4 water restrictions next month if the lake continues to decline.
