Students are learning the basics of acting, theatre, costumes, lighting, stagecraft, props and more at Brownwood’s Lyric Theatre summer camp, and practice is underway for two performances this weekend.

The campers are made up of students who have completed kindergarten through high school, and they are about ready to perform before audiences.  A dress rehearsal was held on Thursday afternoon with colorful costumes, familiar characters and fun props.

This year’s theme has been “Once Upon A Time,” which offers a mix of laughter, mystery and whimsy as “Law & Order” comes to the land of fairy tales.

The camp is being held at the Howard Payne University Theatre.  Camp began last Monday and will continue through Friday and will culminate in the two performances at the HPU Theatre – one on Friday, June 14th at 7:00 PM and one on Saturday, June 15th at 2:30 PM.

Below are preview pictures of the show from Thursday’s dress rehearsal.
