Racel Nickerson

Funeral services for Racel Nickerson, 68, will be held at Saturday, June 1, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Malone officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Brownwood Funeral Home and Cremations.

She passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at her home.

Racel was born Nov. 28, 1944, in Smithville, Texas, to the parentage of Charlie Montgomery and Katheran Issac Montgomery. At an early age she was married to Dan Lee Nickerson, and to this union seven children were born. She was a stay at home Mom, and loved her children very much. She was a woman of strong faith and had a determination to live beyond imagination. She fought a good fight and never let her illness defeat her up until the very end.

Proceeding her in death were her parents, Charles and Katherine Montgomery; two children, Dan Nickerson Jr. and Sherry Dale Nickerson; four sisters, Florence Thomas, Raydell Tony, Irene Mills and Charlin Crawford-Montgomery; one brother, Howard Montgomery; father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Virginia Nickerson; three brothers-in-law, Allan, Joe Wayne, J.W. Nickerson; one sister-in-law, Tommie Dale Martin.

She leaves to cherish her memory her five children, Rachel Allen, Wayne Nickerson (Lee), James Nickerson of Brownwood, Texas, Terry W. Nickerson (Beverly) of Lubbock, Texas, and Angelia Robinson (Terrence) of Wylie, Texas; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brownwood Funeral Home and Cremations.
