whiteleyJames R. Whiteley, 46, passed away Monday May 20, 2013, at Fisher County Hospital.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Roby with burial to follow at Roby Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born May 30, 1966 in San Angelo, James was the son of the late R.C. and Jewel Estelle (Rich) Whiteley. James graduated from Dublin High School and attended Tarleton State and was in the process of studying Theology. He married Brandy Griffith in Dublin on Feb. 14, 1997.

James lived in Brownwood for 12 years before moving to Roby in 2007 and owned a Domino’s Pizza franchise in Sweetwater. James always wanted to be with family, especially his children. He loved being around people and his passion was serving the Lord. James was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roby and was licensed to the Gospel Ministry on Oct. 23, 2011 and was ordained as a church deacon in 2012.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Paige LeighAnn Sanders; and his grandparents.

James is survived by his wife, Brandy of Roby; two daughters, Catherine and Jeweleigh Whiteley of Roby; one sister, Linda Sanders of De Leon; two nieces and their husbands, Shae Lynn and Blaze Pendleton of Granbury and Tiffany and Matt Misenhimer of Midlothian; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gloria and Bobby Griffith; a sister-in-law, Melissa Waldon and her husband Josh; a grandmother-in-law, Jimmie Kennedy; one niece; one nephew; two grand-nieces; one grand-nephew and numerous relatives and friends.
