BFD Fire & Rescue Reports 5/13

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of May 5-11, 2013 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 18 medical emergencies, 5 fire calls, 4 motor vehicle accidents, 1 hazardous materials call, 1 public assistance call and 1 lock-in call.

Reports of interest include:

Tuesday, May 6

*10:52 AM – BFD responded to a single vehicle accident involving a vehicle striking a tree in the 3000 block of FM 1176. Firefighters extricated the occupant from the vehicle.

Wednesday, May 7

*12:04 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding an unauthorized fire.  Upon fire crews’arrival, no fire was found.

*12:06 AM – BFD responded to a two-vehicle accident with no injuries in the 300 block of E. Commerce.

*12:21 PM – BFD was called to a fire in the 2500 block of Brady regarding a shop fire. Fire crews arrived on scene to find flames coming from the shop.  Firefighters extinguished the fire and overhaul was performed. The Brownwood Fire Marshal was on scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

*1:23 PM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 2600 Crockett Drive, Brownwood Regional Medical Center parking lot, regarding a vehicle fire.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find a car with the engine compartment on fire.  Firefighters extinguished the fire.

Thursday, May 8

*8:09 AM – BFD responded to Rhodes Road where they arrived on scene to assist with retrieving keys from roof of building.

*4:20 PM – BFD responded to a two vehicle accident with no injuries in the 400 block of E. Commerce.

Friday, May 9

*11:28 AM – BFD was called to the 900 block of 11th Street.  Firefighters arrived on scene to find that a transformer had been struck by lightning.  No fire danger was found and Oncor was notified.

*11:37 AM – BFD was dispatched to a fire call in the 1000 block of Santa Clara.  Fire crews arrived on scene to find an evergreen on fire due to a lightning strike.  The fire was extinguished without incident.

Saturday, May 10

*11:33 AM – BFD was called to the 2600 block of Crockett drive where they arrived on scene to find an infant locked inside a vehicle.   The vehicle was unlocked and the infant was returned to its mother.

*2:43 PM – BFD was dispatched to a hazardous material call in the 100 block of E. Commerce.  Fire crews were dispatched to investigate the strong odor of diesel fuel; however, nothing was found.

*3:08 PM – BFD responded to a motor vehicle accident at Austin Avenue and Center Street involving a vehicle verses a school bus. All occupants in both vehicles were checked for injuries.
