TexasBank recently announced that over $79,000 in scholarships are being given to local area high schools and colleges through the Doss Foundation.

“TexasBank is proud to be affiliated with such a significant investment in furthering the education of the youth in the markets in which we serve,” said Greg Dodds, President and CEO of TexasBank. “Commitment to the education of our future leaders is of great importance to our Board and Ownership as evidenced in the nearly $350,000 given by the Doss Foundation over the past six years.”

School districts including Brownwood, Early, Bangs, Blanket, Brookesmith, May, Zephyr ISD, Comanche, Gustine, Sidney and Goldthwaite received a total of $24,000 in funding for scholarships.

The Doss Foundation increased the amount of scholarships given this year by $25,000 total over previous years.

TSTC Regents Circle received a donation of $5,000.  Howard Payne University and Tarleton State University received gifts of $25,000 to each school.

President of Howard Payne University Dr. Bill Ellis stated that these funds will be counted as a part of HPU’s current fundraising campaign that will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $100,000.  In essence, making the gift of $25,000 grow to $50,000 being donated to HPU.

Dodds explained that most scholarship funds are for students coming into college; however Tarleton State University will be offering scholarships to current students, juniors and seniors currently enrolled and facing hardships, to provide funding for them to stay in school and complete their studies.  Their awarding of the scholarship will be more need based and given to deserving students.
