Jason “Preacher” Stagg, 81, of Brownwood Passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at a local nursing Home.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the New Testament Holiness Church in Bangs, Texas, with Bro. Marcus Wasson as the Eulogist. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Brownwood Funeral home located at 2512 Belle Plain St..

Bro. Jason Stagg was born April 5, 1932, in Ville Platte, La. The eldest son of the late Nathan and Lillie Mae Stagg. Jason accepted Jesus Christ early in life in Houston, Texas. He was a God fearing man that loved his wife, children and friends. He wore a smile that brightened up any room. He always wanted the best for his family. He worked for FMC in Houston, Swift Lam Plant in Early, and Kohler CO. in Brownwood until his retirement. Jason had many other jobs; some were freebies, and some were not. He helped anyone that he could. He stayed busy gardening, working on our cars, etc. He loved watching all sports and would make the children watch them with him. Jason was married to Sadie Jane Stagg in 1961 and to this marriage, three girls were born. The lord took Sadie in 1969. In 1973 he joined and attended faithfully, the New Testament Holiness Church in Bangs. He later met Fannie Mae Brown and they were married on Jan. 14, 1977. He became the patriarch of a blended family that included his three girls as well as Fannies five children. Later the birth of their youngest daughter was added.

His Memories are left with his wife, Fannie Mae Stagg; son, Ricky Brown of San Francisco, Calif.; daughters, Loletha Story of Bangs, Texas, Linda Brinkley and husband Patrick of Denton, Texas, Paula Holbert-Fletcher and husband Frank of Lake Brownwood, Texas, and Mary Bocknite and Husband Allan of Brownwood, Texas; son, Dewayne Brown of Glenn Heights, Texas; daughters, Yvonne Washington and husband Marvin of Rockwall, Texas, and Shalonda Stagg of Lewisville, Texas; sister, Lillie Jean Jason of Ville Platte, La.; brothers, Nathan Stagg, J.L. Stagg both of Houston, Texas, and Emmich Stagg of Ville Platte, La.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and many friends.

Preceding him in death were both parents, Nathan and Lillie Mae Stagg; one daughter, Patricia Lucky; four sisters, Joyce M. Wilson, Mary Ezola LaFleur, Lizeree Stagg and Ollie Tezeno; one brother, Ivory Stagg; one son, Jerome Brown; and one great-grandson, Dajon Holbert.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brownwood Funeral Home and Cremations.
