19th Annual Bangs Mayfest Schedule of Events

LogoBangs Mayfest is set to kick off on Friday, May 3rd at Bangs City Park and with other events throughout the area.  The weekend will be full of fun featuring live music, car show, talent show, BBQ cook-off, citywide garage sales, and lots of good food.

There will also be entertainment for the children attending including pony rides, face painting, rock climbing wall, an inflatable boxing ring, bounce house, air slide and much more.

Saturday will feature the Mayfest parade and end with the Street Dance featuring Zack Edwards Band  and guest Four Barrel to benefit the Bangs Museum.

The following is the schedule of events for the weekend:

Music under the Pavilion 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

10 – 11 a.m.  West Texas Hazbins

11 – 12 a.m.  Bangs Musical Group

12 – 1 p.m.  George Allison

1 – 2 p.m.  Kitchen Sink

2 – 3 p.m.  Martin Bates and Janie Stein

3 – 4 p.m.  Bangs Jazz Band

Mayfest Car Show 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Church of Christ Parking Lot

Registration:  9 a.m. – 1 p.m.           Awards:  2 – 3 p.m.

Mayfest Got Talent Show, Friday Night, May 3rd

6 p.m.  Bangs High School Auditorium

1st Annual Flamin’ BBQ Cook-off, May 3rd Community Center Parking Lot

May 3rd 2 p.m. Arrival & Preparation

May 4th  11 a.m. Bean Turn In

12 p.m.  Chicken Turn In

1 p.m.  Rib Turn In

2 p.m. Brisket Turn In

Friday, May 3rd

11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Enchilada Plate Lunch – Methodist Church, take-out/delivery

6 p.m. – Mayfest Got Talent Show

Saturday, May 4th

7-11 a.m.  Breakfast First Baptist Church

8 a.m.  Most garage sales begin citywide, check out FBC for many under one roof.

9 a.m.  Mayfest activities in City Park begin

Car Show registration begins at Church of Christ parking lot.

9:30 a.m.  Line up for Parade at Bangs ISD bus barns on Gantt Street

10 a.m.  Bangs Business Association Mayfest Parade begins

Live music begins under the Pavilion

11 a.m.  – 1 p.m.  Methodist Church Enchilada Lunch at Activity Center

11:30 p.m.  Washer Pitching Contest – Lot across street by car show.

Nacho Lunch at First Baptist Church

2 p.m. Ice Cream Eating Contest under small pavilion by information booth

2:30 p.m.  Awards at Car Show

3 p.m.  Water Balloon Tossing Contest

4 p.m.  BBQ Cook-off Awards

5 p.m.  End of Mayfest City Park Activities

9 p.m. – 1 a.m.  Street Dance Downtown Bangs benefitting Bangs Museum

All Day Saturday May 4th, there will be a silent auction at the BBQ Cook-off at the community center parking lot.  There will also be vendor/food booths at the park.

Free parking on Kyle Street with free shuttle to the park (handicap equipped).

Contests: $3 entry fee for each contest (Washer Pitching, Ice Cream Eating, & Water Balloon Tossing).  Two age groups for each contest, 12 & under and 13 & older.  Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each contest division.

Street Dance: $10 per person (5 & under are free), BYOB (no glass containers).  The street dance benefits the Bangs Museum.
