FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – The Howard Payne softball team allowed a three-run fifth to fall 3-1 to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on day two of the 2013 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. Tylene Middleton named to All-Tournament Team.

In the third, the Lady Jackets would score on a sacrifice fly by Tylene Middleton bringing home Carissa Zarate, who reached on a base hit.

It was a missed cue in center field and another error in the field that allowed three Mary Hardin-Baylor runs in the fifth. UMHB would hold winning 3-1.

Baillie Trumble got the loss in the start giving up three runs on four hits in five innings of action. Haleigh Caraway threw the final frame for the Lady Jackets.

Katie Poerner, Amanda Gober and Zarate each had a hit for Howard Payne. Junior shortstop Tylene Middleton was named to All-Tournament Team.

The Lady Jackets finish the season at 21-21 overall and 15-9 in conference action.
