Brownwood Regional Medical Center hosted their annual Health Expo on Wednesday, April 24 at the Brownwood Coliseum which featured an array of beneficial health information as well as health screenings.

This year represented the 21st such health expo that BRMC has hosted free to the public.  The coliseum was filled with over 65 hospital information booths, safety and health related local businesses and organizations; the largest turn out in the expo’s history according to BRMC Director of Marketing Donna Hair.

“There were more booths this year than ever,” said Hair.  “It’s been a good day.  Attendance was up from last year and there’s been so much networking between providers.”

According to Hair, approximately 300 blood tests for cholesterol were performed at the expo this year.  Other tests such as pulse oxygen, grip strength, body fat composition, reflex checks, and spinal screenings hearing screenings were also available.  Information cards about chest pain and warning signs as well as what to do when chest pain occurs were also available to the public.

Hair stated that blood pressure checks were performed by Ranger College nursing students and for those who were found to have a higher readings, free counseling was made available by Dr. Tim Moore, Cardiologist.

Other benefits of the fair included information for BRMC’s Senior Circle (benefits for those 50 and older) and Healthy Woman (Education Resource for Women).
