Lucille McIntire Martin

martinLucille McIntire Martin, age 89, who lived in Coleman County most of her life died April 21, 2013 in College Park Rehab Center in Weatherford, Texas. She was born December 18, 1923 at Shield, Texas the daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Sanders) McIntire.

She graduated from Rockwood High School in 1941 and married Ray E. Martin on June 7, 1941 at Gouldbusk, Texas. She later attended LVN school at the Overall-Morris Memorial Hospital in Coleman and worked there for several years. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and was a Southern Baptist Pastor’s wife and an awesome Bible teacher. She was loved by many.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, a grandson, Barney Martin, her sister, Geneva (Tiny) Newman, her niece, Monique Newman, and a brother, Johnny Benton.

She is survived by her brother, John McIntire and his wife Linda of Brownwood, her sister, Juanita Cagle of Fort Clark Springs, Texas, and nine children including Brenda Martin Forbess of Brownwood, Jimmy Ray Martin and wife Pat of Weatherford, Terry Martin Jordan and husband Ronny of Cross Cut, Rodney Payne Martin and wife Karen of Midland, Pamela Martin McDonald and husband Terry of Brownwood, Randy Martin and wife Patsy of Comanche, Tammy Martin Driskill and husband David of San Antonio, Shelly Martin Velasco and husband Jeff of San Antonio, and Celia “Tip” Martin Matthews and husband Lester of Abilene.

Her grandchildren including Jamey and Richard Ember, Candy and Brad Herring, Torreon and Elisa Martin, Tracie Martin, Robbye Martin, Anna Beth Martin, Joe and Jaycee Carter, Amber and Jeff Watts, Ashley and Don Brown, Hillary and Claude Kilpatrick, Ben and Christina Martin, Rodney Payne and Peppre Martin, Genny and Jason Baccus, Jake Martin, Brandon Driskill, Krishelle and Jason Hicks, Addy Velasco, and Kelton Matthews. She is also survived by 38 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also adored by an extended number of grandchildren and great grandchildren who also loved her.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at the Gouldbusk Baptist Church in Coleman County with great grandson Jimmy D. Martin officiating and eulogy given by her granddaughter Hillary Kilpatrick. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service and also 6 – 8 PM on Monday at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Burial will follow in the Gouldbusk Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to be made to the Gouldbusk Cemetery Association c/o Mrs. Bob Turner.
