Bobby Ray Alford, 68, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on April 22, 2013 at his home in Brownwood, Texas. He was born on August 30, 1944 in Gorman, Texas to Grady and Ernestine (McMillan) Alford.

Bobby grew up in May, Texas and graduated from May High School. After high school he worked for 10 years at General Dynamics in Fort Worth as a structural mechanic.  After moving back to Brownwood, he worked at Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M).  He retired in 2007 after 39 years of service.

Bobby married Loma Keesee in 1965 in Brownwood, Texas. They were married for 47 years. Bobby was a member of Early First Baptist Church. He enjoyed outdoor activities including working at his family’s farm. He always loved spending time playing with his grandkids or attending their numerous activities or sporting events. Bobby enjoyed the big family gatherings with all of his kids and grandkids.  He often talked about taking day trips with the “Shiftless Ones”, a group of friends who had also retired from 3M.  Bobby’s gentle spirit, smile, loving nature and compassion for others will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Bobby was preceded in death by his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. John Alford and Mr. and Mrs. Martin McMillan.

Bobby is survived by his spouse Loma of Brownwood, Texas; his son Danny (Shea) Alford of Midland, Texas; his son Jody (Sheryl) Alford of Pensacola, Florida; his daughter Pam (Scott) Greer of Zephyr, Texas;  6 grandchildren, Braden and Reese Alford, Landry, Lexi and Layton Greer, and Kymani Alualu;  his parents Grady & Ernestine Alford of May, Texas; his sister Latricia “Sissy” (Don) Southern of Coleman, Texas; and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am Saturday, April 27 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas. Burial will follow at Amity Cemetery near May, Texas.  Visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Home, 303 Early Boulevard, from 6 to 8 pm on Friday April 26.

Condolences can be offered to the family at www.heartlandfuneralhome.net.
